The 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup organizers claim they are on track to sell a record 1.5 million
tickets for the event, which begins in 100 days.
For the occasion, 650,000 tickets have been sold in Australia and New Zealand.
According to Fifa Secretary General Fatma Samoura, “Fifa’s aim is to organize the biggest and
best Women’s World Cup in history this year.”
England and the Republic of Ireland are participating in the World Cup, which begins on July 20
and ends on August 20.
In addition to hoping to sell 1.5 million tickets, the tournament’s organizers anticipate two billion
people will watch it on television worldwide.
Fifa anticipates that more than 100,000 spectators will attend the event’s opening day overall,
which will feature matches between Australia and the Republic of Ireland at the 83,500-seat
Stadium Australia in Sydney and New Zealand playing 1995 champions Norway at the 50,000-
seat Eden Park in Auckland (11:00).
Originally scheduled to take place at Sydney Football Stadium, which has a seating capacity of
45,500, Australia’s opening game has been relocated due to high demand for tickets.
For what is anticipated to be another significant turning point in women’s football, the last phase
of ticket sales has just begun.
Fifa reported that with 50 days left before the 2019 World Cup in France, a record 720,000 tickets
had been sold.
950,000 tickets had been acquired prior to the competition, and a week later, Fifa reported that
more over 1 million tickets had been “distributed to fans around the world.”
However, the large number of complimentary tickets distributed along with the inexpensive ticket
pricing for several group matches resulted in empty seats and accusations from supporters that
the event was being undervalued.
