Benjamin Mendy, a Manchester City footballer, has been charged with another offence of rape.
The Prestbury, Cheshire-based French multinational is now charged with seven charges of rape
and one count of sexual assault involving five women.
The 27-year-old was charged with the newest offense last week, but it was kept under wraps due
to reporting limitations. Mr. Mendy appeared in Chester Crown Court for a hearing ahead of his
trial, and these limitations were relaxed earlier.
The most recent accusation involves a new complainant and is said to have occurred in July of
this year. The alleged crimes occurred between October 2020 and August 2021, according to the
indictment.
The player appeared with his co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie, 40, of Eccles in Greater
Manchester, who has been in detention since his arrest in August. Six allegations of rape and one
count of sexual assault have been leveled against him.
Following the 40-minute hearing, both men were remanded in jail at HMP Altcourse in Liverpool.
Their trial, which had been planned for January, has been postponed until later this year.
Mr. Mendy has been a member of last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City
since joining for a reputed £52 million from Monaco in 2017.
