The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Phoenix Suns 124-111 to halt their 11-game winning streak. Trae Young scored 43 points.
The 23-year-old hit 16 of his 25 shots on the night, leading his team to their eighth victory in nine games.
The Suns remain in first place in the Western Conference, but the Golden State Warriors are only one victory behind them after defeating the Sacramento Kings 126-114.
Klay Thompson led the Warriors in scoring with 23 points in San Francisco, including seven three-pointers. His performance helped the Warriors win their eighth straight game, and the 31-year-old moved into 19th place on the NBA’s all-time three-point list, surpassing Kobe Bryant with 1,829 points.
“The 2011 draft, the Kings don’t choose me, so people don’t forget,” he stated after his outstanding performance.
Elsewhere The Los Angeles Lakers were defeated by the Los Angeles Clippers in a dramatic game in which Anthony Davis watched a jumper hit the rim in the final play of the night.
The Clippers’ Marcus Morris Sr scored 29 points, but Reggie Jackson’s 25 points were important in putting them ahead with four seconds left on the clock.
Davis, who led the Lakers with 30 points, rushed into the paint but was left disappointed as his shot went wide, triggering Clippers celebrations.
Davis stated, “The ball has touched every section of the rim.” “A difficult play and a difficult miss. The ball is in, and it is about to roll out. Tough. This is going to be a big deal for me. I’m delighted we’re having a day off.”
