Following a bomb threat to Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire’s home,
Cheshire Police conducted a search.
The threat was taken seriously by Maguire, who lives with his fiancee and two small children.
“Harry has received a significant threat to his family home in the last 24 hours,” a spokeswoman
for Maguire said.
“Obviously, Harry’s top priority is the protection of his family and those around him.”
“He will continue to prepare for this weekend’s encounter as usual,” the statement said, “and we
will not be commenting in any further detail at this time.”
Police are “looking into the incident,” according to the 29-year-spokeswoman.
It is unknown who issued the threat, and sources refuse to reveal how it was issued.
“On Wednesday, April 20th, Cheshire Police were contacted to reports of a bomb threat at a
property in the Wilmslow area,” the police stated.
“There were no evacuations, but a police explosives dog was dispatched to the address this
afternoon, Thursday, April 21, to undertake a search of the gardens and surrounding area as a
precaution.”
This comes after harsh criticism of Maguire’s performances at United, especially the 4-0 loss to
Liverpool on Tuesday night.
The £80 million defender has been chastised for his poor form, but he defended himself in a TV
appearance this week, referring to both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick as examples.
