The Golden State Warriors defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 122-109 to halt the champs’ six-game winning streak. Klay Thompson had a season-high 38 points.
It was the guard’s greatest performance since his January return after a two-and-a-half-year injury layoff. The 32-year-old made 15 of 24 shots, including eight three-pointers, while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out five assists.
He said, “I’ve gone through a lot.” “It’s a gift just to be able to compete out here.” Thompson missed the whole 2019-20 season and the entire 2020-21 season due to a ruptured left knee ligament and an Achilles tendon ailment.
In January, he recovered his health and scored a season-high 33 points in a win over the Los Angeles Lakers in February.
“It was a challenge, but I understood how hard I had to work having been on so many great teams and understanding what it takes to reach to the final level,” Thompson said.
“I’m not ready to peek yet. There is still more to be done.” For the Warriors, Jordan Poole scored 30 points, but Stephen Curry only had eight points and eight assists.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, led the Bucks with 31 points, while Khris Middleton added 18.
The Chicago Bulls defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 101-91, while the Indiana Pacers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 119-108, with DeMar DeRozan scoring 25 points and Nikola Vucevic adding 20 points and 14 rebounds.
The Portland Trail Blazers upset the Washington Wizards 127-118, with Josh Hart scoring 28 points in the first half on his way to a career-high 44 points.
