With an outstanding hat-trick to defeat Leeds for the second time in a row in the Premier League,
Ivan Toney celebrated reaching the 50-goal milestone for Brentford.
After a protracted VAR intervention and a thorough pitchside monitor inspection by referee Robert
Jones, top scorer Toney converted a strong penalty kick in the 30th minute to increase his goal
total to 50.
Toney scored for the Bees for the first time since his arrival in August 2020 by curling a beautiful
goal into the far corner of defeated Meslier’s net from a dead ball position after gently extending
his spotless record to 18 successful penalties for the club.

Diego Llorente failed to clear. He beat the stranded Meslier and the desperately backtracking
captain Robin Koch with a brilliantly weighted chip from beyond the penalty area.
Marsch’s anger were increased when, as Brentford pushed for a fourth goal, he was dismissed for
asking Jones to use the video monitor to assess an Aaron Hickey challenge on Crysencio
Summerville.
The American had to watch as Marc Roca blasted straight at Raya from close range and Bamford
missed his attempt from point blank range before Bryan Mbuemo almost immediately restored
Brentford’s two-goal advantage by sliding past Meslier.
